The grace period is the extra time (typically 15–30 days) an insurer gives after a premium due date, during which the policy stays active despite the missed payment.
A short buffer after the due date to pay your premium without losing coverage.
If the policyholder dies or a claim event occurs during the grace period, the claim is usually still valid after deducting the pending premium; the policy lapses if payment isn’t made by the end of this period.
Missing the exact due date, a policyholder pays the premium 10 days later within the 15-day grace period, keeping the policy active.
A short buffer after the due date to pay your premium without losing coverage.
