CIBIL score is a three-digit credit score from TransUnion CIBIL reflecting an individual's creditworthiness based on repayment history and credit behaviour.
CIBIL score is your credit report card — 750+ helps get loans easily at lower rates; low score means rejection or expensive borrowing.
Score range 300–900 derived from credit report: repayment track record, credit utilisation, mix, inquiries, and age of accounts. Lenders pull CIBIL for home, personal, and credit card decisions. Score updates monthly as lenders report data.
Score 820: ₹50 lakh home loan approved at 8.4%. Score 650: same loan rejected or offered at 9.5% with stricter conditions.
One free report annually from CIBIL website. Some fintech apps and banks offer periodic free score checks.
Self-checks are soft inquiries with no impact. Multiple loan applications cause hard inquiries that may temporarily lower score.
Negative entries typically remain up to 7 years. Consistent on-time payments gradually rebuild score over 6–12 months.
