Taxable Salary = (Annual Salary + Bonus) - Standard Deduction - Professional Tax (Old Regime); Income Tax = Slab Tax - Rebate 87A + Surcharge + Cess; Take-home = Gross Cash - Income Tax - Professional TaxSalary-focused Indian income tax computation for FY 2024-25 and FY 2025-26. Tax slabs, rebates, surcharge, and cess are read from formula.rules JSON.
For salaried employees, income tax is computed on gross cash earnings (annual salary plus bonus) after allowable deductions. The standard deduction is subtracted first. Under the Old Regime, professional tax is also deductible from salary income.
Gross Cash Income = Annual Salary + Bonus. Taxable Salary = Gross Cash Income − Standard Deduction − Professional Tax (Old Regime only). Income Tax = Slab Tax − Rebate u/s 87A + Surcharge + Cess (4%). Take-home Salary = Gross Cash Income − Income Tax − Professional Tax.
Employer contributions form part of CTC but are generally not taxed as your income. This calculator treats them as informational — they increase total CTC but do not increase taxable salary.
For FY 2025-26, standard deduction is Rs 50,000 (Old) and Rs 75,000 (New). Professional tax (max Rs 2,400/year) is deductible under the Old Regime only.
Example 1: Salary Rs 11L, New Regime → Taxable Rs 10.25L, Tax Rs 0, Take-home Rs 10,97,600. Example 2: Salary Rs 18L + Bonus Rs 2L, Old Regime → Taxable Rs 19,47,600, Tax ≈ Rs 3.89L. Example 3: Salary Rs 8L, New Regime → Tax Rs 0, Take-home ≈ Rs 7,97,600.
